Norbert Bear's Letter

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. There I was, dozing in the shade after my lunch, when suddenly I awoke to the twitter and fleeting flutter of wings. Just as I started to stretch and yawn wide, I spied him above—a snow bunting.   Suddenly I realized that he must be from the Arctic! I lumbered over in his direction just in time to see him drop something before flapping away—could it be? Another letter had finally come from my dear cousin Norbert from the North. I neatly sliced the envelope open with my claw and...

Sally's World

Wow, what a day I have had!  Excuse me for not introducing myself but I am “Sally” from the Education Building at the Memphis Zoo and originally of the South America Rainforest. The first thing many people notice about me is my brilliant colors of green, red, orange and yellow along with my large beak!  Many people get me confused with my larger cousin the Toco Toucan who lives in the Bird House or on your Fruit loop box in your home.  I am actually a Green Aracari, one of the...

Le Le enjoying bamboo. Yaaaaaawwwwwwnnnn….When I wake up and roll lazily into my dayroom, there is already a large stack of fresh bamboo waiting on me. But today, as always, I prefer my morning treats of leafeater biscuits. Yet as I gobble these delicious treats from my trainers hand, I realize something is different today…I know what it is! Dried...
