What Qualifies as a School Group?


A limited number of school group admissions are available on a first-come, first-served basis Mondays through Fridays to schools registered with their state Board of Education. 

All school groups must be reserved and paid for in advance. School group rates
are only available when Memphis City
 
Schools are in session.

To qualify for school rates you must:
  • 1) Have a minimum of 15 students.
  • 2) Have a minimum of one adult chaperone per every 10 students.
  • 3) Make reservations and payments for your trip in advance.

Price Summary

School Group Rate:

$5 per student
One free teacher/chaperone per 10 students, additional $5 each

Add a Zoo Class:

$3 per student, unless otherwise noted
One free teacher/chaperone per 10 students, additional $2 each

Add a Sack Lunch:

$3.95 per student

Bus Parking:

Free on-site parking

Car Parking:

$5 per car












Payment
  • 1) Acceptable forms of payment include cash, credit card or a school check (made payable to the Memphis Zoo).
  • 2) Payment must be received two weeks in advance of your trip.
  • 3) Everyone MUST enter the Zoo at one time.
  • 4) Individuals arriving later than their group will be charged full admission.

 

Lunch Plans

Option 1

The most convenient meal option is to order yourlunches from the Zoo’s very own Cat House Café.For $3.95 per student, each child will receive ahealthy bag lunch that meets USDA School LunchRequirements:Choice of Turkey & Cheese, Ham & Cheese orPeanut Butter & Jelly SandwichBaked Cheetos®Carrot Snacks100% Pure Juice CupPlease call at least two weeks in advance to order yourlunches from the Cat House Café. You’ll need to provideyour school’s tax I.D. number to waive the sales tax onyour order. Call the Cat House Café at (901) 333-6786.

Option 2

Picnic lunches are welcome in the Zoo. Please followthese rules when bringing in your lunches:Groups may eat lunch in outdoor picnic areas only(please see map on the back of this guide for locations).The Zoo does not have facilities on grounds tostore coolers.

 

Option 3

if you prefer a catered picnic lunch in our pavilion, please contact Events at 901-333-6571.  Minimum of 65 for catered picnic lunch.


The Memphis Zoo is here to make teaching easier for you! We offer a variety of educational classes that can be added to your Field Trip. To top things off, all our “edZOOcation” classes meet Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi state standards.

 

Even if a formal class doesn’t fit into your Field Trip schedule, we still have ‘extra’ educational opportunities your students can enjoy.
