HORTICULTURE
The Memphis Zoo is home to not only thousands of animals, but thousands of plants as well! Our exhibits feature naturalistic settings, and our walkways are lined with lush landscaping. Our plant collections include exotic as well as native species, to provide an educational, attractive experience for zoo visitors, as well as our animal inhabitants. And our spring
plant sale is one of the region's best opportunities to find exotic, hard-to-find plants to take home to your own garden.
Schedule a special tour for your garden club or group by calling 333-6600.
HORTICULTURE EVENTS & PROGRAMS
We offer several opportunities throughout the year for visitors to learn more about the plant collection at the zoo.
About our walking tours:
Join zoo horticulturist Jill Maybry every other month in 2009 for a
guided walking tour of the zoo’s plants! Each tour will focus on a
particular area of the zoo, depending on where plants are looking their
best. This small group setting is a perfect opportunity for you to ask
questions about the plants you see on our grounds, and find out which
ones would work well at your own home.
