Just because school is out for the summer doesn’t mean that fun and learning for your child has to stop! We offer Summer Zoo Camp programs for students in grades pre-kindergarten to seventh, in a variety of ‘zoo-rific’ topics every year. Your child can be registered for any of our week-long sessions, all of which are age-appropriate and run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The Memphis Zoo’s Summer Zoo Camp program is, without a doubt, the wildest camp around.

Egg-Cellent Adventure

Some are hard while others are soft and squishy, and they come in all different colors. What is it? It’s the incredible egg! Campers will learn all about babies that hatch from eggs through games, crafts, and tours. By the end of this camp, your child will be an “eggs-pert!”

Sense-able Animals

Ever wonder how animals see after dark, hear under the water, and feel without fingers.  In this NEW and “tasteful” class we will see how humans and animals make “sense” of things as they explore their homes.

Growing Up is Hard to Do

All baby animals have to grow up eventually.  They have lots to learn along the way.  Explore the world through the eyes of cubs, chicks, ponies and many more.

Animals on the Move

Swinging through the trees, running on the ground or gliding through the water.  These are just some of the interesting ways that animals move around.  Discover how and why animals move so differently.

1st/2nd Grade

What a Watery Life

Your kids will flip over this camp about animals that live in water.  From sea lions to penguins, fish and turtles, your child will learn what animals need to live in a watery environment.

Fire & Ice

Imagine living in a place where it can get as hot as 134 degrees or in a place where the temperature drops to -31 degrees – that’s cool! Discover what extreme living is like in this exciting camp!

Backyard Buddies

Our own backyard is full of fabulous and interesting wildlife! From opossums to owls, spiders to snakes, your child will investigate the animals that live right under our noses!

Winged Wonders

Birds, bats, and butterflies all do it. They spend their lives flitting and flying around their worlds. Explore the lives’ of these winged wonders and find out what makes them so special.

3rd-4th Grade

Alien Invaders

Aliens have landed!  Not the green space creatures!  I am talking about rats, kudzu, sparrows, German cockroaches and English Ivy! Come explore why some plants and animals can cause harm to the environment!

Toys and Treats

Have you ever wondered why animals need toys and treats?  In the Zoo world, it is called animal enrichment!  Enrichment is the process of providing a natural and stimulating environment for animals to live in.  Submerge yourself in learning about and making animal enrichment and watch the animals enjoy it!

Let's Hear it for Herps!

What are herps?  A herptile is a reptile or amphibian.  Explore the adaptations, habits, and diets of these fascinating creatures and also the predators that depend on them.  Learn about the similarities and difference between these two groups.

5th-7th Grade

Dr. Zoolittle

Have you ever sung with a sea lion, rapped with a raptor or chatted with a cheetah? Unlock the doors of animal communication, as you become Dr. Zoolittle!

Animal Mysteries

Ever wondered where the myth of the unicorn began or if dragons really exist? Come learn about real sea mermaids and more as we explore nature’s greatest mysteries.
